Discussion Board Week 8

Q Instructions • Discussion Board Post #1 (Thursday) o Review the Land Suitability Analysis & Conceptual Site Design assignment guidelines. What special features do you want to highlight on this site and how can you highlight these features (habitats, pathways, signage, and focal points)? Then think about the concept of multi-functionality that was discussed in the lectures. Can you incorporate multiple functions in your conceptual design such as using green infrastructure for stormwater management, incorporate vegetation for screening or edging, nature play, environmental interpretation, etc.? Share your initial ideas and thoughts. Find pictures, drawings, etc. that illustrate--or are close to--your ideas and thoughts. Be sure to include the URL or reference for the pictures, drawings, etc. Be creative! • Discussion Board Post #2 (Saturday) o Provide some constructive feedback to your peers. What aspects of their design concept appeals to you? What might be some factors (logistic, cost, inclusive, etc.) that your peer might want to consider in their design? What suggestions do you have to make this design concept more multi-functional? o For the reply, all students are required to respond to at least one peer. o Grad students are required to respond to two peers. Submission Details Click on "Reply" below to make your post. I recommend drafting your post in Word (or another document) first and then copying and pasting it into the discussion post. That way you will not lose any of your work on accident. Grading Criteria This discussion is worth 10 points. Please see the "Assignments and Point Value" chart in the syllabus for details.

There are many things that I would like to highlight on my site as there is a lot that needs to be rebuild. One of the two things that I would like to enhance would be building new trail signs to guide, direct, inform and connect the trail system. I would plan to use all of the burnt timber in the area to help construct these trail/information signs all along the trailhead. Second, I would like to build a solid viewpoint with stone picnic benches/regular benches. This I would like to construct out of local granite and other sustainable materials. This includes using burned/cut down trees from the fire.
